Rochester A's throttle Waseca Legion for 2nd time
Waseca manages just 3 base runners in 10-0 loss

WASECA - The Rochester A's proved why year-after-year, it seems to be at or near the top of the First District League standings.

The A's pounded Waseca for the second time this summer, 10-0 in five innings, at Tink Larson Field July 16.

The loss snapped Waseca's three-game winning streak, leaving Post 228 with a final regular-season record of 6-9. Waseca finished 3-4 on its home field this summer.

It was all Rochester from the start of Thursday's game. A two-out error in the first inning opened the door for the A's to score six unearned runs.

Rochester had three hits and was aided by four walks from Waseca starter Kyle Waugh. Samuelson and Prastic, the number seven and nine hitters in the lineup, delivered two-run singles.

The A's upped their lead to 9-0 with three runs in the third inning. Two hits, two walks and an error did the damage.

Rochester managed a final run in the fifth inning, collecting three hits off reliever Jim Loonan.

Rochester's Krause stopped the Waseca offense cold. Waseca had just three base runners in the game, one of those coming on an error.

A first-inning single by Chris Glynn and Christian Hall's fifth-inning single were the only Waseca hits.

Krause did not walk a batter and struck out four.

Waugh was the losing pitcher, falling to 0-3 this summer. He gave up two earned runs and five hits over the first three innings. Waugh walked 10, hit a batter and did not record a strikeout.

Loonan hurled the final two innings, giving up one earned run and one hit. He issued one free pass and did not strikeout a hitter.

No one had more than one hit for Rochester. Prastic drove in two runs and Kangas scored three times.

Waseca made three errors and stranded three base runners.

The A's committed one error and left 11 men on the sacks.
